StreetStrong Turns Asphalt into Art with StreetBond at Nowra Junction Court

April 2025

StreetStrong worked with Shoalhaven City Council on the transformative street revitalisation project at Junction Court in Nowra, NSW. Designed as part of the NSW Government’s Your High Street grant program, this vibrant public space upgrade reimagines the heart of Nowra’s CBD. The StreetStrong crew applied StreetBond™ coatings to asphalt and concrete pathways, delivering a colourful ground mural that redefines the space as a pedestrian-first zone.

This large-scale surface artwork acts as both placemaking tool and wayfinding element, signalling to the community that Junction Court is a place to pause, play, and connect. The mural enhances the shared zone by complementing other urban design elements, including timber animal sculptures, Arc seating by Street Furniture Australia, programmable performance zones, and new greenery introduced via custom planters.

As experts in StreetBond™ applications, StreetStrong utilised a meticulous process to ensure a flawless finish. The application begins with surface preparation, where the pavement is cleaned and primed to maximise adhesion. StreetBond™ coatings are then applied in multiple layers, allowing each coat to cure properly for optimal durability and colour vibrancy. The process ensures that the final surface is not only visually striking but also resistant to weathering and wear, making it ideal for high-traffic public spaces.

The benefits of StreetBond™ include exceptional durability, resistance to cracking, peeling, and fading, even under heavy foot traffic and exposure to the elements. Its UV-stable pigments maintain vibrant colours over time, while slip-resistant properties ensure pedestrian safety in all weather conditions. StreetBond™ is also an eco-friendly choice, with low-VOC formulations making it a sustainable option for urban projects. It’s versatility allows for application on various surface types and intricate artistic designs, while its low maintenance reduces long-term costs.
